To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.
Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.
Went thru power wheelchair, crutches and walking stick. Brazos helped me get my mobility back in great fashion. Just received my hickory cane and could not be happier. Great craftsmen in Texas.
I ordered this for my Father as a birthday gift. When it arrived I was totally astonished at the craftsmanship of this product. It far surpassed my expectations. The engraving was professional and magnificent. It is a rare treasure to do business with someone who take such pride in their work.
Ordered on the 24th, received on the 26th. Now that is fast delivery service. And the twisted hickory cane is a real beauty. Will split time with the hardwood root cane and the leopardwood with maple handle cane. They are all very nice, handcrafted useful tools.
I am 56 female and have depended on my cane daily (4 intense spine surgeries) since 2008.My cane has a natural feel in the palm of my hand and it is as strong as the day I got it-We get tons of compliments-Big hit with medical staff, it’s a nice icebreaker. Canes are usually so depressing l wanted something handmade w/personality (made in USA-)! Get the strap-I have used metal canes & got shoulder and wrist injuries from them. I do occasionally oil the wood.
This is a great looking cane and feels like it will last forever. I am only giving it 4 stars to give a heads up to anyone who will need to cut it down significantly like I did. Because it is a "freeform" cane, it is not straight at the bottom where I needed to trim it. I ended up cutting it at an angle to compensate and make it stand flush against the ground.
It looks a little odd, but works perfectly fine. I am 5'8" and am going to buy another cane as well, just going to make sure to buy one that is straight all the way through.
Once again, this would be a 5 star review if not for the one issue I had. It might behoove Brazos to put a disclaimer in the description of the freeform canes that this could be an issue.
[We offer free cane sizing to avoid this issue. Just leave a note in checkout saying what size you want your cane sized down to. - Brazos]
i asked for a bit of customizing. the cane arrived promptly and as i'd requested. it appears sturdy and is attractive. i doubt it will break any time soon. i've bought a bunch of other items from brazos. no problem with any of them.
I was expecting a very nice cane but still am impressed. Beautifully crafted with a nice heft and balance, it's a pleasure to use.
I ordered it too short but I found I could fit several nickels inside the ferrule which has improved it somewhat.
Lots of complements.
We now have two free form hickory canes in our home. For the first I stopped by Ace Hardware and picked up a 37 inch for my wife after she broke her foot. I really liked the look and the bullet proof strength of it, my wife has and still greatly appreciates it!
Since I have MS, and leg symptoms come and go, my wife purchased a 40 inch free form hickory cane for me as well directly from Brazos. The delivery would have been quick except for winter storm Leon and Polar Vortex 2.0 that shut down the east coast.
This week I had to use the cane at work during a fire alarm and everyone else that used a cane wanted to know where I got mine. I sent them the link, and I'm certain they are placing orders with Brazos considering the CVS flimsy "tin specials" they were using.
The cane is working flawlessly for me, I did have to cut off 1/4 of an inch for the perfect length, even if I live till I'm 100, I'm certain the cane will outlive me!
