To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!
Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.
Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.
The hame sits nicely on the wood, it has screws and nails which hold it snugly in place. Shout out to Mr. Jedidiah McAlister for making such a work of art out of wood. The spiral looks very unusual because it brings out different colors within the woods grain. Thank you for sizing it to me perfectly, since this was my first cane to purchase, and was a bit unsure of my measurements. Very hard and sturdy wood this Bloodwood. The hame is not too large either, for I wear a mens large in a glove and don't have huge hands, but it feels good resting in the palm of my hand, and my fingers can easily wrap underneath to grasp and move the cane forward while walking.
Great shaft among the best of my Brazos canes. The hame, though, is a little too large for a cane I would use on a regular basis. Feels nice; fit well in the hand and not noticeable heavy. But its size makes it a bit garish. Makes a nice conversation piece.
