Brazos™ Traveler's Walking Stick

The Traveler's Walking Stick , 55 inches, offers the quality, stability, and utility of our standard walking sticks, while conveniently unscrewing into three equal parts, making it perfect for people on the go. This useful staff is fashioned from sturdy oak, making it strong and highly durable. When disassembled, the entire unit is only around 19 inches long, so it'll easily stow away in an airplane overhead bin, in your backpack, or even on the passenger's seat of your car. With its small and discreet disassembled size, this staff can be taken virtually anywhere. In a popular 55-inch assembled size, the oak Traveler's Stick is sized just right for the majority of people looking for a handcrafted walking stick to conveniently carry with them on their global hiking trails.

Made in America, One at a Time

Unlike sterile, lifeless metal canes and poles, Brazos walking canes offer natural appeal because they are made from real wood. You can see the fine detail and beauty of the actual tree when you look at one. Each cane is a work of art. Plus, because they are solid wood, there are no moving parts to become unstable. Brazos Walking Sticks is family operated and located in the beautiful Brazos River Valley of Central Texas. Each walking stick is handcrafted by skilled local craftsmen.

Make it Uniquely Yours

To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!

Walking Sticks

  • For small children and shorter adults, we generally recommend a 41-inch stick.
  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a 48-inch stick.
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 5’11”, we recommend a 55-inch stick.
  • For adults over 5’11”, we recommend a 58-inch stick.

Walking Canes

  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a our lighter 34-inch canes
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 6’, we recommend our standard 37-inch canes as the best starting point.
  • For adults over 6’, we offer 40-inch canes.

Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.

Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.

    Love the Stick!

I love this stick! With the spike and rubber Ferrule options, this is a universal travel stick for any terrian. I also had the compass inserted, looks like it works good too. The laser engraving looks sharp too, so no one can claim it as theirs! Love it.

    Trekking in style

Posted by Brian on 2nd Mar 2017

I am an avid trekker having trekked some 8500 miles in 31/2 years. East coast, mountain peaks, Canada and all the way to St.Louis. I have a walking stick that I carved and decorated and it's a beauty. But I have had to leave it behind on several trips due to lack of space. I am old school, with the leather shoulder bag, water bota and felt fedora, so the aluminum trek poles are just not me. That is not a concern anymore. What a quality find. This 3 piece Texas Traveler is fantastic. Superior quality and craftsmanship. Strong, sturdy, rugged and eye catching. Many compliments in just 2 days on the trails. This trekking traveler is headed to San Francisco where it will accompany me across the Golden Gate Bridge to the Redwood Forest trails on the coast. Thank you Brazos...Trekking Joy.

I wanted to believe that this would be an excellent walking stick that could break down for travel. I ordered it and crossed my fingers. Here is my review- Outstanding workmanship and quality. THANK YOU. My sister is an artist and very particular about the details of workmanship. This is a piece of art - I ordered one for her.

This is the second walking stick

Posted by Your Name on 25th Nov 2016

This is the second walking stick I have purchased from Brazos, the first ( which was stolen) was a bit lighter in weight and had the lighter rubber tip end and I found it more to my likening since I am a small woman and did not need a heavier stick. But that said, I am enjoying being back with the ability to walk more upright and proud with my new stick!

    great so far

Posted by Unknown on 6th Sep 2016

Love my new travelers walking stick. I pictured it being a little thicker, but its very strong and well built with beautiful craftsmanship. I haven't tested it out in the field yet,but I feel that will pass whatever obstacles I may face. I gave four stars because of testing and I'm wondering about the holdup of the finish. I was thinking if testing and if need be applying a spar varnish that i used when I was in the service. If it holds up well then I will promptly give 5 stars. Thanks again for my new stick . you guys kick ass.

    Love my new walking stick!

Posted by Unknown on 11th Jun 2016

Thank you very much for such good service and great craftsmanship! I will finally be able to travel with my own walking stick. It fits in my carry on suitcase if I put it in corner to corner. The quality of the wood is beautiful. Will be taking it to Switzerland on my trip in a couple of weeks. I am very excited.

    A staff of power

Posted by Peter Pandemonium on 11th Feb 2016

I got this breakdown staff to accompany on my trip to see the Standing Stones and Barrows of Wessex (England) and Brittany. I am impressed with its craftsmanship and sturdiness. I am also very pleased with the leather case I got to go with it. I will be adding one of the combination brass and rubber tipped spikes. I wonder if i can use it to summon Unicorns...

    Love it!

Haven't hiked with it yet, but I've tooled around EPCOT with it and it is as solid and steady as any stick I've ever used! My new Renegade is a bit narrower than my Cherokee was, and the one-piece stick I'd been using was a tight fit, and had to go diagonally, thus cut out most of my storage capabilities. This one took care of that issue and then some. Got the combi spike and the liquid filled compass (yea, that one is more of a toy than anything else!). Should have ordered this ages ago! I've already tacked my geocaching trackable to it! ;)
