Brazos™ Traveler's Walking Stick

The Traveler's Walking Stick , 55 inches, offers the quality, stability, and utility of our standard walking sticks, while conveniently unscrewing into three equal parts, making it perfect for people on the go. This useful staff is fashioned from sturdy oak, making it strong and highly durable. When disassembled, the entire unit is only around 19 inches long, so it'll easily stow away in an airplane overhead bin, in your backpack, or even on the passenger's seat of your car. With its small and discreet disassembled size, this staff can be taken virtually anywhere. In a popular 55-inch assembled size, the oak Traveler's Stick is sized just right for the majority of people looking for a handcrafted walking stick to conveniently carry with them on their global hiking trails.

Made in America, One at a Time

Unlike sterile, lifeless metal canes and poles, Brazos walking canes offer natural appeal because they are made from real wood. You can see the fine detail and beauty of the actual tree when you look at one. Each cane is a work of art. Plus, because they are solid wood, there are no moving parts to become unstable. Brazos Walking Sticks is family operated and located in the beautiful Brazos River Valley of Central Texas. Each walking stick is handcrafted by skilled local craftsmen.

Make it Uniquely Yours

To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!

Walking Sticks

  • For small children and shorter adults, we generally recommend a 41-inch stick.
  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a 48-inch stick.
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 5’11”, we recommend a 55-inch stick.
  • For adults over 5’11”, we recommend a 58-inch stick.

Walking Canes

  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a our lighter 34-inch canes
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 6’, we recommend our standard 37-inch canes as the best starting point.
  • For adults over 6’, we offer 40-inch canes.

Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.

Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.

    Reviewing the stick

This walking stick is great. Have used it in travels a few times. Sturdy, dependable, convenient. I throw it in the suitcase and go. I took off a star because it is a very expensive stick. Otherwise, it's the way to go if you need one and have to travel.

    Traveler Walking Stick

The key to this stick is that it can be dis-assembled for travel on an airplane. But when assembled, the stick needs to be very sturdy to support your full weight if you need it while hiking. This is one of the only sticks out there that is quality enough to do that. I took off a star because it is very expensive. I also took off the star because I need at least a 58" stick and this only come in 55".

    Best Ever for Travel

I hav gone on 3 vacations overseas where I have had to pack my walking stick. This Walking Stick has been an awesome solution! My online issue is the rubber tip. I have only owned this stick for a year and have broken the tip 2X. If you are walking along and place the walking stick on the ground and inadvertently kick the stick - if the tip catches on the surface, the end will snap off. I hope Brazosx redesigns the tip to be a little more robust.

I wanted a walking stick that came in sections for ease of packing on trips. This stick fits the mark. Well made, very sturdy when assembled. The engraving I had was done very well.

    Solid support, great craftsmanship

Although I bought this for my father and have not used it other than in a short "test mode,” I must say I was very impressed with the sturdiness of the walking stick after assembly. Others have said the wood grain on each of the three pieces lined up with each other but ours did not. However, the overall quality of the entire stick is so impressive (including the metal fittings connecting each end), I consider the “different” center piece grain as more of a statement of uniqueness than any kind of detraction from the overall quality. I bought my father a collapsable, metal walking stick a few years ago but it has nowhere near the strength and support of this one. Disassembled, it will fit into average size suitcases and even some carry ons if it is put in on an angle. The item shipped with very protective foam padding on each of the bolts to prevent any damage in shipping. I will be buying plastic or rubber bolt tips/ends/protectors so that they can be easily put on and off during future travels. If you need a durable walking stick that can be disassembled while you are on planes or trains, you will not find a better product!
