Brazos™ Traveler's Walking Stick

The Traveler's Walking Stick , 55 inches, offers the quality, stability, and utility of our standard walking sticks, while conveniently unscrewing into three equal parts, making it perfect for people on the go. This useful staff is fashioned from sturdy oak, making it strong and highly durable. When disassembled, the entire unit is only around 19 inches long, so it'll easily stow away in an airplane overhead bin, in your backpack, or even on the passenger's seat of your car. With its small and discreet disassembled size, this staff can be taken virtually anywhere. In a popular 55-inch assembled size, the oak Traveler's Stick is sized just right for the majority of people looking for a handcrafted walking stick to conveniently carry with them on their global hiking trails.

Made in America, One at a Time

Unlike sterile, lifeless metal canes and poles, Brazos walking canes offer natural appeal because they are made from real wood. You can see the fine detail and beauty of the actual tree when you look at one. Each cane is a work of art. Plus, because they are solid wood, there are no moving parts to become unstable. Brazos Walking Sticks is family operated and located in the beautiful Brazos River Valley of Central Texas. Each walking stick is handcrafted by skilled local craftsmen.

Make it Uniquely Yours

All our hiking sticks can be personalized with laser engraving, making them uniquely yours. Walking sticks and canes can be further customized with accessories listed above, per your choice.

To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!

Walking Sticks

  • For small children and shorter adults, we generally recommend a 41-inch stick.
  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a 48-inch stick.
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 5’11”, we recommend a 55-inch stick.
  • For adults over 5’11”, we recommend a 58-inch stick.

Walking Canes

  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a our lighter 34-inch canes
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 6’, we recommend our standard 37-inch canes as the best starting point.
  • For adults over 6’, we offer 40-inch canes.

Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.

Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.

    Solid support, great craftsmanship

Posted by Winter Camper on 31st Jul 2018

Although I bought this for my father and have not used it other than in a short "test mode,” I must say I was very impressed with the sturdiness of the walking stick after assembly. Others have said the wood grain on each of the three pieces lined up with each other but ours did not. However, the overall quality of the entire stick is so impressive (including the metal fittings connecting each end), I consider the “different” center piece grain as more of a statement of uniqueness than any kind of detraction from the overall quality. I bought my father a collapsable, metal walking stick a few years ago but it has nowhere near the strength and support of this one. Disassembled, it will fit into average size suitcases and even some carry ons if it is put in on an angle. The item shipped with very protective foam padding on each of the bolts to prevent any damage in shipping. I will be buying plastic or rubber bolt tips/ends/protectors so that they can be easily put on and off during future travels. If you need a durable walking stick that can be disassembled while you are on planes or trains, you will not find a better product!

Used it when touring Virginia Civil War battlefields. Extremely happy to have purchased this item, and recommend it anyone who is thinking of purchasing a walking stick and is reading these reviews.

As sturdy as a 1-Piece Stick

Posted by Jack M on 20th Mar 2018

Really terrific and well-made stick. Don't worry that it screws together because, in typical Brazo fashion, it fits together perfectyl, and is very tight/secure when assembled. A really classy and portable stick. I also purchased the carrying case for it and like all of Brazos' stuff, it is top drawer in every respect. Best of all, the stick and case are American made.

    Very good quality!

Posted by Timothy on 2nd Mar 2018

I have to admit I was still skeptical even after reading some of the reviews that this walking stick would be just as sturdy as a one piece.(boy was I wrong) This is a very nice and sturdy stick. I have used it for trail hiking, and it is just about perfect. I also ordered the nylon pouch which, after I add a shoulder strap will allow me to carry it into places where a one piece stick would look slightly out of place. Thanks again for a fantastic product. P.S. Oh! the engraving was really nice too!

Have Brazos Stick ~ Will Travel

Posted by Blair on 13th Feb 2018

I have walked with a Brazos Sassafrass stick for several years, and miss having it when I travel. Now, I will be able to take a Brazos with me. I'm off to Arizona tomorrow. Very excited to take it out for a walk.

    Great Walking Stick

Posted by Bob on 21st Dec 2017

I'm preparing to hike the Camino de Santiago this summer and needed a walking stick I could take apart and carry on the plane. This walking stick fit the bill perfectly. Once you screw it together it stays together, but is easy to disassemble when you need to. I'm been walking with it here at home in Chicago for about a week and it's great. If you get one, you will not be disappointed.

    Love the Stick!

Posted by Peter P on 15th Mar 2017

I love this stick! With the spike and rubber Ferrule options, this is a universal travel stick for any terrian. I also had the compass inserted, looks like it works good too. The laser engraving looks sharp too, so no one can claim it as theirs! Love it.

    Trekking in style

Posted by Brian on 2nd Mar 2017

I am an avid trekker having trekked some 8500 miles in 31/2 years. East coast, mountain peaks, Canada and all the way to St.Louis. I have a walking stick that I carved and decorated and it's a beauty. But I have had to leave it behind on several trips due to lack of space. I am old school, with the leather shoulder bag, water bota and felt fedora, so the aluminum trek poles are just not me. That is not a concern anymore. What a quality find. This 3 piece Texas Traveler is fantastic. Superior quality and craftsmanship. Strong, sturdy, rugged and eye catching. Many compliments in just 2 days on the trails. This trekking traveler is headed to San Francisco where it will accompany me across the Golden Gate Bridge to the Redwood Forest trails on the coast. Thank you Brazos...Trekking Joy.
