Brazos™ Safari with Padauk, Walnut Exotic Stacked Handle

The Safari Padauk/Walnut/Bocote Walking Stick is unique and stylish. It is so unique that the exotic woods for the handle may vary between productions. You'll be proud to own this one-of-a-kind walking staff, and it's sure to turn heads as you walk securely through serene neighborhoods or arduous, mountainous hiking trails. To make the Safari Padauk/Walnut/Bocote Walking Stick we take our ever-popular Hickory Walking Stick and accent it with an exotic wood handle comprised of padauk, walnut, and bocote or other exotic African wood like zebrawood if we are low on others. The final product is a stunning beauty that's strong, durable, and highly functional. Each piece of hickory is carefully chosen, cut, sanded, and sprayed with a protective, clear coat lacquer, magnifying the wood's innate beauty. Our craftsmen scrutinize each detail in this handcrafted masterpiece, and the finished product will feel like a treasure in your hand. This hiking stick is available in three sizes so you can outfit your entire safari group.

Made in America, One at a Time

Unlike sterile, lifeless metal canes and poles, Brazos walking canes offer natural appeal because they are made from real wood. You can see the fine detail and beauty of the actual tree when you look at one. Each cane is a work of art. Plus, because they are solid wood, there are no moving parts to become unstable. Brazos Walking Sticks is family operated and located in the beautiful Brazos River Valley of Central Texas. Each walking stick is handcrafted by skilled local craftsmen.

Make it Uniquely Yours

To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!

Walking Sticks

  • For small children and shorter adults, we generally recommend a 41-inch stick.
  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a 48-inch stick.
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 5’11”, we recommend a 55-inch stick.
  • For adults over 5’11”, we recommend a 58-inch stick.

Walking Canes

  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a our lighter 34-inch canes
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 6’, we recommend our standard 37-inch canes as the best starting point.
  • For adults over 6’, we offer 40-inch canes.

Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.

Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.

    Safari Exotic

I have been looking for a 48” stick to use while I am on my mobility scooter or traveling by car. I tried a twisted Oak. But I wasn’t happy with the grip position. With the Safari, I had a good diameter stick with stunning wood. (If you want to get my attention use pretty wood. No yellow pine)

Posted by Don M on 2nd Aug 2018

I have used various types of woods as walking staffs, but the weight, durability, and overall quality of this Walnut product is one of the best. I plan to order a 2nd unit to keep in my stock.

    LOVE my new hiking stick!

Posted by Alex Keenan on 19th Jan 2016

I bought a taller stick than suggested for my hike, but my intent was not to use it as a trek pole and I hold it lower. I took it out this weekend and it was perfect for stream crossings, the snow and ice, and all the challenges my hike presented. I love the way it looks and feels and couldn't be happier! Thank you!!
