Brazos™ Free Form Natural Hardwood Root Handcrafted Walking Cane

One word probably describes these canes the best: character. Our stick makers harvest these natural root creations from accessible roots of various hardwood trees using renewable, eco-friendly techniques. The hardwoods vary, but are often times sumac, hawthorne, or something similar. Each piece is different from the next, and our skilled craftsmen take care to make sure that each walking cane is properly sanded, smoothed, and protected with a clear coat of lacquer. The lacquer helps to bring out the wood’s intrinsic beauty and transforms a mere root into something you’ll be proud to call your own. The final result, as you can see, is a cane that only nature itself could fashion, and it's perfect for just about any occasion where a sturdy walking companion is preferred. All of our walking sticks and walking canes are handcrafted by our own craftsmen in Texas (Made in the USA!) using only the finest time-tested methods and woodworking tools.

Made in America, One at a Time

Unlike sterile, lifeless metal canes and poles, Brazos walking canes offer natural appeal because they are made from real wood. You can see the fine detail and beauty of the actual tree when you look at one. Each cane is a work of art. Plus, because they are solid wood, there are no moving parts to become unstable. Brazos Walking Sticks is family operated and located in the beautiful Brazos River Valley of Central Texas. Each walking cane is handcrafted by skilled local craftsmen.

Make it Uniquely Yours

All our canes can be personalized with laser engraving, making them uniquely yours. Canes can be further customized with accessories listed above, per your choice.

***Please note: Each cane is unique and will vary from the photos shown. We cannot guarantee the cane you receive will look like any of the shown canes.***

To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!

Walking Sticks

  • For small children and shorter adults, we generally recommend a 41-inch stick.
  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a 48-inch stick.
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 5’11”, we recommend a 55-inch stick.
  • For adults over 5’11”, we recommend a 58-inch stick.

Walking Canes

  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a our lighter 34-inch canes
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 6’, we recommend our standard 37-inch canes as the best starting point.
  • For adults over 6’, we offer 40-inch canes.

Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.

Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.

    Unique and beautiful

I am so happy with this cane! After breaking my hip this winter, I was recently given the go ahead to move to a cane and so many canes out there were either boring or way too expensive. This cane is unique, interesting and beautiful and the price is reasonable as well. And the free shipping was a nice bonus! I've been using the cane now for a week and it is perfectly functional as well, I find the handle quite comfortable and it is plenty strong. Highly recommend this cane!

I had some special requests, and I was very pleased with the walking stick I received. It's more for potential defense against bad 2 and 4 legged animals, and I think it's about perfect for the job. Light weight, comfy in the hand, and as tough as a tree root, which of course it is!! It's now a constant companion for me and my shorkie when we are out and about!! Thanks Brazos!

    Very happy with the cane

Posted by Thomas Vermilye on 9th Jan 2014

I purchased this cane because I like the looks of the Brazos Natural Wood Canes. The material is excellent. The handles are carved just the right size. I have two other canes that I purchased from Silver Dollar City MO. I have been real happy with the ones that I have and very happy with the new one. I will be back for another one soon. I decorate my canes with Eagle heads and stones. Then sell them and donate the money to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

He received a cane similar to this as a gift in colorado ten years ago. We have seen one since. He thought his was made of Adobe wood. His is little thicker ,the hand part is the same. Everyone stops him nd asks where it came from. Now he can give them your company name.

Carved from a single root, crevices and inclusions are incorporated into the head of my cane. It fits my hand perfectly and the Brazos Video on this site allowed me to size this cane exactly. I've already had an offer to purchase it so I directed them to the Brazos site, WOW
