To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!
Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.
Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.
The stick was fine, and it arrived fairly quickly. But - there was NO explanation/ description of the various accessories that could be purchased as add-ons. Some, ok, like the monogram, maybe didn't need explanation...but those different end-caps surely did! There was no definition of how they were supposed to be used, on what surface, etc, or if they were removable and/or interchangeable. And then, the company's solution for a tip you didn't like?? Saw it off!? What ??!! Where?? How much?? How far does the tip extend into the shaft?? Will I damage my saw if I cut in the wrong place?? Really, this is the best you can do??
Love them! I got 2 because I couldn't get up or walk for 4 months without poles. I am down to one now for strength & balance. I like the Hawthorne because it's strong but light. I'm a woman but have big hands, I need something substantiail to grasp. Ehan Mulkey was the person who handcrafted my walking sticks & engraved them lovely too. Very nice job!
The absolute best that I have handled. Five Star quality and craftmanship...If you want the "Finest", you've come to the right place!
Beautiful and high quality. Exactly what I was looking for. Perfect for our Cub Scouts crossing over into Boy Scouts!
I added a 58" Hawthorn to my walking/hiking stick collection and am sure glad I did. Wow, what a cool stick. It has a slightly larger diameter than my other Brazos sticks, which feels great in the grip - very substantial and hand-filling. The wood is light in weight but solid and strong, kind of like the Aspen. The main thing about the Hawthorn is how cool it looks. Mine has super-interesting patterns where branches grew out of it or were torn off - the whole stick is filled with interesting patterns. The underlying wood which you see where the branches are torn off is yellow, not beige/white, so it's kind of striking and different looking than other sticks. Honestly, I bought it just to have it but wasn't really planning to use it much, as I generally like to walk with a hickory stick, but I find myself reaching for this one frequently, since it feels great in the hand. It gets a lot of positive feedback from passers-by due to its striking appearance.
I don't usually send complimentary emails about merchandise I buy, but have to thank you for the beautiful freeform Hawthorn walking stick I received today. It is a great complement to the freeform hickory walking stick I ordered from you a couple of years ago. Their superb quality is only surpassed by their natural beauty. Many thanks to your artisans and support staff for jobs well.
I recently lost my walking stick of the past nearly 4 years. I ordered my new hawthorn Brazos because I need a stick for balance. It came promptly. I am adjusting to it: nice weight; attractive stick, larger in diameter and a bit longer than my first stick. I like the thong (my first stick had none) I like that it is free form=looks and feels more natural than others I considered. I think it is a bit longer as well. We are making the transition nicely.
I bought this stick for my brother as he will be crossing over to boy scouts. He is so excited to use it and I have been testing it and it works just perfectly.
I purchased the Hawthorn Stick for my wife and she was thrilled to receive it. She really appreciates the character of the Hawthorn and the weight is just right. It is a very pretty piece.
