Brazos™ Brazos Bocote and Maple Laminated Hardwood Walking Cane

The Brazos Bocote and Maple Laminated Hardwood Walking Cane is one of the most beautiful walking canes we make at Brazos Walking Sticks. Like many of our laminated wood products, this cane fuses two distinct woods together to make a final product that's a breathtaking piece to behold. This cane is certainly functional, yet it's so attractive you'll be tempted to display it on your living room wall. To make this resplendent cane, our craftsmen meticulously select the finest materials, laminate the bocote and maple boards together, work the laminated wood on a router, carefully sand the body of the cane, give it our signature twist, and finally spray the finished product with a protective clear coat lacquer. The final product is a breathtaking cane you have to hold to believe! The handle is attached to the shaft using a timeless mortise and tenon joint. Thanks to its unparalleled strength, the mortise and tenon joint has been a favorite among wood workers for centuries. Like all of our staffs and canes, the Brazos Walnut and Maple Laminated Hardwood Walking Cane is handcrafted in the USA using the highest quality wood and time-tested methods.

Made in America, One at a Time

Unlike sterile, lifeless metal canes and poles, Brazos walking sticks offer natural appeal because they are made from real wood. You can see the fine detail and beauty of the actual tree when you look at one. Each stick is a work of art and no two are exactly alike. Brazos Walking Sticks is family operated and located in the beautiful Brazos River Valley of Central Texas. Each walking stick is handcrafted by skilled local craftsmen.

To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!

Walking Sticks

  • For small children and shorter adults, we generally recommend a 41-inch stick.
  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a 48-inch stick.
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 5’11”, we recommend a 55-inch stick.
  • For adults over 5’11”, we recommend a 58-inch stick.

Walking Canes

  • For people who are shorter than 5’4″, we recommend a our lighter 34-inch canes
  • For people who are between 5’4″ and 6’, we recommend our standard 37-inch canes as the best starting point.
  • For adults over 6’, we offer 40-inch canes.

Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.

Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.

    Going on Ten Years!

Posted by Dan Brooks on 3rd Apr 2015

10 years ago I began to have symptoms of Parkinson's Disease and a dear friend bought me this bocote and maple cane. It was tall enough to fit my 6'4" stature and looked so fantastic! 10 years later I am still depending on it everywhere I go. It is the most durable cane I have ever used! The handle has never budged despite my large size. Each time my spouse takes me out I get compliments and folks ask where I got such a beautiful cane. Thank you for such a unique and lasting support for my walking difficulties.

[Dan, please email me if you can. Would love to correspond and maybe get a photo of you and your cane!]

    Thank You Brazo!

This is my 3rd Brazo Walking Cane. I spent some time on the phone with Eric so I could explain what I was looking for in a Cane. This is the one Eric recommended for me. Not only does it fit the purpose of my medical needs to use a walking cane, it also looks great. The handmade detail is incredible, it's extremely comfortable in my hand. I've had many compliment's on all my Brazo Canes, but this one is very special. I've spoken to several people who purchased a Brazo Cane after seeing mine and their all extremely pleased with theirs.

This is my second can from Brazos. The first one was 6 years ago and is still in use. This new cane has far surpassed the quality of the first one. It is a heavier and better constructed cane. I am very pleased. This is a great cane as far as looks go also. I am always getting compliments on the looks.

A beautiful cane that is dressy and looks great. Excellent big man's cane as the shaft and grip are proportional and sized for large hands.
