I have a collection of canes and Irish shillelaghies, several of which I actually use for daily hikes; this may be my favorite yet. Practical, sturdy, high-quality – can’t beat it, especially for the price. I purchased in red.

I thought I had already reviewed this, but I don't see it there. Maybe I forgot to press "send" or something.
It's a very solidly made and attractive cane. I have a few other wood canes/walking sticks by Brazos and other makers, but they all have the natural free form look. This is the only one that looks like a manufactured item. Brazos cut it to the right length for me (you just have to request this when you order it), and even re-tapered the tip slightly.
The only slight flaw is not functional but aesthetic. The crook is skewed very slightly to one side instead of being aligned perfectly with the shaft. It's one of those things you only notice if you're looking very closely. It would fine if this were one of those free form canes. As it is, it's not a big deal.

This cane is very quiet compared to drug store metal ones. It is heavier and stouter than I hoped and not at all 'red' despite the description, but it is comfortable to carry.

This is the least expensive, quality self defense cane I've bought. Very good looking but tough enough for real world applications. The crook is very comfortable in my hand. Swings easily with control. I had to cut it down for my height, but that's about as easy a thing as you'll ever do. Great cane.

Made of solid Oak this cane is very strong and tough. As a walking aid it can serve you for your life time. But, to be honest, I bought it exclusively for Martial Arts practising and for self-defense. There is company called Cane Masters, who makes canes specifically for that. Their street canes have a sharp point on the hook and grooves on the shaft (called finger grips). Just like Brazos’ their canes are also sanded, but instead of protective clear coat lacquer (as on Brazos’) their canes are protected by a bee’s wax. That’s the only difference! Fun begins when you look at the price. Brazos’ cane cost $44.00. Pretty much the same cane from Cane Masters (also solid Oak and a big Shepherd’s Crook) goes from $80.00 to $360.00. Shipping cost is from $20.63 (UPS ground) to $120.00 (Next day Air)…
I don’t know what else to say. I am sure almost all canes made in USA are of exeptional quality but why to throw money around, when you can get excellent cane for the down-to-Earth price from Brazos ? And Brazos offer free shipping !

I bought this walking cane from a wooden barrel at my local hardware store. Several months after my broken ankle healed, I am still having balance issues and this cane is nothing short of wonderful. I have considered other canes but the mass and width of the handle are what really stands out. It fits comfortably in my hand and as I am 6' 3" I feel very confident with it. Thank you.

The Twisted Oak Crook Neck Walking Cane is fashioned from solid oak, making it a strong, reliable walking companion that will last for years to come. Its unique crook handle is a distinct alternative to our traditional handles, making it a must-have for collectors looking to expand their repertoire. To make the Twisted Oak Crook Neck Walking Cane, we carefully sand and finish each piece of oak, paying particular attention to bring out the wood's natural beauty. Each cane is then stained in one of three attractive colors: brown, red, or tan. Finally, each cane is finished with a protective clear coat lacquer. The finished stick is a one-of-a-kind walking companion that's both sturdy and attractive. Like all of our finely crafted walking sticks and canes, the Twisted Oak Walking Cane is made in the USA by our skilled craftsmen using the highest quality wood and time-tested methods.
Unlike sterile, lifeless metal canes and poles, Brazos walking canes offer natural appeal because they are made from real wood. You can see the fine detail and beauty of the actual tree when you look at one. Each cane is a work of art. Plus, because they are solid wood, there are no moving parts to become unstable. Brazos Walking Sticks is family operated and located in the beautiful Brazos River Valley of Central Texas. Each walking stick is handcrafted by skilled local craftsmen.
All our hiking sticks can be personalized with laser engraving, making them uniquely yours. Walking sticks and canes can be further customized with accessories listed above, per your choice.
