Like all of our walking sticks and canes, our Traditional Walking Canes are handcrafted in our Central Texas location by our seasoned woodworkers using time-honored techniques and top-quality materials and tools. These quality handcrafted walking canes are milled from various woods including cedar, oak, hickory, ash, and other popular woods.
We receive hundreds of board feet of raw material into our Central Texas location every month. Once received our craftsmen carefully select, cut, mill, sand and stain each piece, depending on the needs of the particular walking cane that's being made. Each Traditional Walking Cane is finished with an attractive clear coat lacquer. The precatalyzed lacquer is designed to both protect the cane and to magnify its intrinsic beauty.
The handles for our Traditional Walking Canes are affixed to their shafts using a timeless mortise and tenon joint. Thanks to its strength and dependability, the mortise and tenon joint has been used by knowledgeable woodworkers for centuries. To achieve the graceful look of our milled walking canes, our craftsmen spend countless hours practicing the routering and sanding techniques necessary to meet our exacting standards. The finished look has a polished, professional finish-a signature of Brazos Walking Sticks staffs and canes.
Our Traditional Walking Canes can be customized with laser engraving, a fashionable cane strap, a thermometer, a Texas State Seal, and a Brazos Walking Sticks medallion, to name a few options. Furthermore, each cane comes with a rubber steel-reinforced ferrule for a strong, secure grip on virtually any surface.
