Our Hitchhiker Walking Stick is handcrafted from a solid piece of oak, making it a strong, and relatively lightweight, walking stick. It’s ideal for any type of walk or hike, strenuous or casual. Each staff is beautifully stained, magnifying the wood's beautiful grain patterns. Every stick is sprayed with a protective clear coat lacquer. The result is a smooth finish that highlights the wood's intrinsic beauty. The finished staff is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted walking stick that is both sturdy and attractive. The Hitchhiker Walking Stick comes with a standard rubber tip for a firm, secure grip on virtually any surface. Like all of our finely crafted walking sticks and canes, the Hitchhiker Walking Stick is made in the USA by our skilled craftsmen using the highest quality wood and time-tested methods.

To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!
Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.
Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.
Great stick. Flawless wood, beautifully crafted. This is my 3rd Brazos stick and there will be more. Fast delivery, ordered on a Sunday and received it on Wednesday
I saw this beauty with a dark walnut shade stain sitting in the rack of walking sticks at my local hardware. The price made me wait till payday but I was sick to my stomach waiting the next three days hoping no one would buy it. Finally, I told myself, I have to get this walking stick. I will be so sick and upset if someone else buys it and I will not have it, so I went and bought it, took it home, and wrapped the handle in electric blue colored buckskin lace, and added a few beads that were special to me. I am very hard on my stuff and this is a lightweight oak...perfect for me! This was one of the best investments I have ever made!
I got the 58 in red oak. Looks just like the picture. Read good finish, very sturdy, and perfect for me at 6 ft tall. My wife is 5-10 and thought it was too long for her given where her hand rests and the angle of her arm (but it's my stick). I walk the dogs 3 miles a day. I use it to show them the boundary (side or behind me, never in front). It also aids in creating a boundary for loose animals in the hood. If they don't respect the stick well that's why I got the one made with oak now didn't I? Looks as promised, quality, nicely carved, shipped quickly, well packed. Great marks all around.
Beautiful walking stick. I could not believe how fast it was delivered. It is balanced, sturdy, and should last for years. I plan to place more order with Brazos Walking Sticks.
Great for the California hill's. Nice waight and balance. Very durable. I use it to move brush out of the way and sometimes rock's off the trails. Will have to invest in extra rubber feet though.
For the most part the walking stick was what I expected it to be. I thought that the lettering was a bit small, but that might be due to my old eyes.
I have to use two walking sticks, because I am a mess! I've bought quite a few and learned what I needed as I went along. Well, these oak hitchhiker sticks are just right!
They are not as heavy as hickory, which my shoulder with the bad tendon can't tolerate. These oak staffs, it says "fine and dandy!"
I wasn't sure which color I would prefer, so I ordered two colors, natural and red-stained. I love them both, and especially as a set. They look great together.
I have no experience with ash wood, but when I found out they had changed these to all oak, well, I know I love oak. These sticks look and work wonderfully well. Thank you, Brazos!
I bought a set of these sticks for my wife and myself. Very nice . Our first hike with them on a primitive trail, proved the sticks very sturdy, as well as beautifully finished. The combi-spikes dug into the hilly terrain, providing great stability. Awesome product.
I have to say, once again, I love these sticks. This is my first hitchiker and I hsve to say the handle fits my hand much more comfortable than the traditional round handles. I just wish I would have ordered this with the combo spike like on my other sticks. 2 thumbs up on this one. Great Stick, you'll love one in your hand.....
