To be sure, determining the right size walking stick or can be a subjective art form. What feels right for one person may feel horrible for another. However, with almost two decades of experience in making handcrafted, wooden walking sticks and canes, you can be sure that we have some opinions on the matter!
Cane sizing is best achieved by standing up nice and straight, relaxing your arm naturally to the side, and having someone measure the distance from your wrist to the floor.
Again, let me reiterate, the sizing recommendations listed above are only suggestions. For people needing step-by-step support, it’s best to consult your doctor or another medical professional about your exact sizing needs.
This is my second Brazos Hitchhiker Walking Stick. My other one is an Extra Size Hitchhiker Oak Walking Stick. Not as robust as the Extra Size but more refined and classy. Pay attention to sizing. My grip falls perfectly in the recess between the two swells. Brazos Craftsman do a great job and get it engraved it is worth the extra cost. Between the two the Extra Size Hitchhiker Oak is my favorite.
I'm sure it has been said over and over again from former and current customers. These are top quality, made in America, by Americans that pride in their work ethic. I assure you that I'll be a repeat customer. I'm planning my next stick as a write this reveiw....
Purchased my stick last Christmas, What was sent is a beautiful stick, so much that I purchased another for my sister. Who had hers stolen while she was at physical therapy. She's sending pictures to family and friends of it.
Thank you all so much.
Bought two hickory walking sticks, one a free form.... and this one....the Hitchhiker model. Took the Hitchhiker out on its maiden voyage this morning and didn't get 50 feet past the front door when I got the first complement .... from a grouchy o'l neighbor .... none the less ...who doesn't even like to talk .... let alone give a compliment! (I don't think he eats enough fiber)
Anyway, by the end of my morning walk, I received several more compliments from the neighborhood regarding this stick ... one of which wanted to buy it from me right there on the spot!
Premium wood, Masterly crafted .... Brazo sticks are rugged pieces of art that will be passed down for generations! Don't think twice .... Pull the Trigger ... and purchase one of these wooden heirlooms .... you will be so glad you did!
I love the beauty and character in this wood. Great looking design. Feels right on the trail.
I bought the 58" twisted hickory stick !! Love it !!
I am 6'4" with severe back issues. This stick is sturdy with a great finish !! Third stick i've bought from Brazos !! Keep up the good work !! Sticks allow me to keep my rythym.......... Thank you,
Ordered this item as a commemorative gift for the two Grand Marshalls of our towns 250th. Great quality, excellent service & turnaround time, and recipients were very happy with it.
Obviously since this is my third Hitchhiker stick, I love this design. The hickory is a little less delicate than my first two which were of other less weighty woods BUT I was going for sturdy in all situations and got it. The tactile feel is still there and I feel safe on all types of terrain. YES - I am hard on sticks - have broken one by getting it caught in the machinery of a "stand you up" recliner and the other by it being thrown many feet in a parking lot and then getting run over by a truck. Actually I still use both of these having glued and splinted and braced them like the old friends that they are. I have had several engraved with my e-mail address because I ALSO tend to leave them in restaurants. This company makes the best sticks I have ever found.
I have had mine in the red ash for over 2 years and it it still looks great, People stop me on the street or everywhere I go commenting on what a beautiful stick it is. I use it a lot and I live in Vermont now, but love to tell people it is made in TEXAS! :)
